Students who do not meet the usual entry requirements ('bachillerato' - high school qualification) can sit a test that is regulated by the Department of Education to gain entry to a higher level specific plastic arts and design course. Applicants must be 19 years old in the year they take the test or 18 and possess an Intermediate Vocational Qualification.

The aim of the test is to ascertain students' maturity in terms of the aims of the 'bachillerato' and to make sure that their general knowledge and skills are at the standard required to take the higher specific vocational qualification.
